I just pulled off my second trade ever, acquiring 1.1 Colombian Tegu littermates. Is it permissible to house them together? They're about 6-9 months old, and have never been separated. They're in a 55gal now.
Thanks!

I've seen two tegus that were housed together fight and injure each other. Also a quick google search and some links turned up that females can be done safely and though male and females can work there are risks due to male maturing fast and breeding females who aren't ready which leads to problems. Personally I believe in housing anything that is not a social animal in the wild separately, but if you wish to continue I would advice you make sure to be ready for anything and have a separate enclosure encase of fighting or as stated premature breeding.

You're quick, Valvaren! Nope, they're siblings. I think that's illegal in most states. Lol

Great advice. I can definitely see your point. I'm pretty sure the tegu forum I've read said they're fine until breeding age. Thanks for bringing that up.
