How long can you go without changing the substrate?

i'm using aspen, and I find it cumbersome to change the substrate every 2 week (all of it). If i spot clean every time it goes (2" radious around spot), how long can I go without doing a full change on the substrate?

I never fully change the substrate, i use reptibark and spot clean as necessary removing a decent amount of the substrate around the bm then just throw another handful of new substrate into the gap :)

I don't see any real need to do more than this other than a mite infestation.

I use cypress and usually spot-clean when needed. I may replace all the bedding about every 6 months or so.

If you spot clean well and when needed there is no real reason to change it out more often than every 6 months or so.

Depends on the snake. If my BCI combines a good dump with tipping its water bowl, then just rolling up the newspaper and discarding the whole mess is just easier. With my other snakes it's truly as needed.

Mine are on ReptiBark so I spot clean when needed and only change all of it twice a year (every six months).

when i used aspen i spot cleaned,making sure ALL the spoilt substrate was removed,then i replaced it the small amount aspen,needed to cover up the bare patch

i removed ALL the aspen every 6 months,then gave the tank a wipe down with a suitable anti bacterial and anti viral soulution

i now use newspaper,i find it much easier,simply remove all the sheets of paper after the snake goes to the toilet,then replace with new sheets of newspaper
