Hey guys I have read everywhere that when ur snakes does its business in its cage you are supposed to clean it out right away. Ok makes sense. How do you guys actually get "it" out lol? What do you pick it up with?

That's what I was thinking :crazy2: It's basically just like cleaning up any other animal's mess. I'm sure paper towels will work just fine.

I never thought about "how do I remove this", it had hardened and was all together so I just reach in with my hand and grabbed it and thew it in the garbage then washed my hands well with soap. The second time it was a bit wetter so I used a piece of toilet paper to grab it, then I threw it in the bathroom garbage can.

If you love your snake you will just roll up your sleeves and just dive right in . More mess the better !!!!!!:freakedout: ROFL .....

I used a little shovel scooper , so i get the substrate around it and then replace what i removed.

Both my snakes are on substrates, so I usually spot-clean by hand. I don't wait for the exact moment right after it happens, but I typically catch it within a couple days.

I just grab some toilet paper and grab it along with the surrounding bedding and throw it away, then just replace what I removed.

Depends on the size of the snake. For my Burm I use nitrile gloves and just start tossing out bricks one by one. Disposable, cheap and effective. I got tired of using a roll of paper towels for each cleaning.

For my rattlesnakes, a scooper with slots in it so the sand falls and the rest stays to be thrown out.

For my boa which is still small I use paper towels to spot clean after a movement. She usually passes small ones a couple times a month and then usually one big one at the end of the month. After that I clean the entire cage thuroughly with diluted bleach water and elbow grease. I am sure there are better ways but this is mine.

i like the boxes of clear plastic powderless gloves for my random dirty, crappy (no pun intended) jobs. i use them all the time prepping food at work so i got a box and use those :P

I never said i used my bare hands i was just telling you too !!!! Really its not too bad if its had time to dry and i only use TP cause its better to flush than paper towels .. You will get it all figured out soon .. And i use a vinegar water solution to clean with , im not sure about bleach but i know vinegar doesnt bother them . Take them out of course and clean the let it air out for a few minutes before returning them home ...

I spot clean by hand if it is solid and use a metal serving spoon if it isnt (this spoon is obviously not used for anything else!!!) :)

i use newspaper as substrate

simply roll up the old paper and replace with new (after a quick wipe with dilluted disinfectant)

cheers shaun

I simply don't tell my wife that I used a serving spoon. ;)

I don't measure it exactly but it is pretty diluted. I still wiped the enclosure down then rinse with water after. If I can smell bleach afterwards then it still needs to be rinsed more.

I go with like 2 oz. bleach, 30 oz. water
