Awesome! I've had my blue tongued skink for going on 13 years now. You won't regret it. In all the years I've kept herps, he has been the easiest as far as husbandry and the hardiest as far as health. And the hognose is adoreable. I've always wanted one!

My skinks favorite food is nightcrawlers, though I only feed him those about twice a month. I don't bother with any other live food. Crickets and mealworms are too small for a lizard of this size. He does like superworms but I don't bother with those anymore. He eats organic canned chicken dog food as a staple and each meal has different fruits and veggies mixed in. He really likes frozen mixed vegetables thawed out to room temp. He also likes blueberries and grapes, bananas, blackberries. I always have a big tub of organic spring mix salad in my fridge and he'll eat that with no problem if I mix it up real good in the dog food. Otherwise he won't touch it. Occassionally I scramble some eggs for a change of pace. I keep a couple of box turtles who pretty much have the exact diet of blue tongued skinks so it makes things easy. Though my turtles staple is nightcrawlers and the dog food is an occassional treat for them. Oh, and if you feed grapes make sure you quarter them. I know of someone who did not and their skink choked to death. My skink is up there in years as he was an adult when I got him almost 13 years ago. During the winter months (nov. to March) he really doesn't eat at all. During the summer he eats twice a week. A younger skink may eat more like every other day.
