so my roommate has a snake and found out i planned on selling one of mine so she beg'd me to have it and i gave it to her a few weeks go by and notice that he has shed and potty'd so i mention it to her almost 8 days go by and i see him again well this time i pulled him out to check out whats going on and the poo that was in there is now growing fungus and molding into the bedding and stunk so bad that i had to leave the room his water dish was empty and he had poo stuck to his belly...and she doesnt understand why i was so angry and took the snake back!

Out of curiosity, what was the excuse she gave you for not cleaning the cage when she was supposed to?

Tricky....it's a shame when people can't uphold the responsibility of keeping animals! Everyone enjoys the fun side of holding, petting, watching etc whatever animal they get, but some people struggle with the 'putting the effort in' side of things....at least your snake had a good escape from less than ideal conditions, many don't...
Kudos for recognising it and taking action...your friend may however deserve a second chance with some support on what/how to care properly for it. It may be as simple as that they were scared to enter the cage for some reason and you could support them to gain confidence etc.
I don't think we should condemn people but I do think that animal welfare comes above people's feelings!

Is it weird that I think it's almost more fun to clean than to hold? I'm serious, I really enjoy enclosure maintenance.

I enjoy the maintenance too. It's fun to pull them out and let them watch you fix up their home.

Poop fetish.
shes been around snakes for almost a yr and knows how to care for them and used to hold this particular snake all the time...her excuse was that she had just checked him the day before i called her a liar and a few other choice words (mostly because if its a cat they can poo on the floor and get away from the mess a snake cant they dont have somewhere to run they cant help themselves its up to us to do it!)
