i have a haitan boa 1 1/2 years old and it hissed at me for the first time tonight is this normal? I have had a few boas in my time but this is my first experience of this and first time it has done this since ive had it( since 3 months old)! Just shed last night and still not complete so im assuming its just a bit p'd off!

19717 Sound like it just still in a pissy mood. When my Yellow Anaconda sheds he don't want touch for at least 48 hours or i'll get hissing and some strikes.

Welcome to the forum! :)
You might've just caught him off guard or in a bad mood. If he's having a bad shed, his husbandry isn't correct. What's the humidity level in there? Incorrect husbandry can stress a snake out, which could make it more likely to hiss at you.

hello and welcome

snakes can get a bit pissed off during their shed cycle mate

it could also be a peioce of shed stuck up its nostril causing the hissing

i have a jungle jag, that hisses loudly through its nostrils, nearly everytime it sheds

it goes back to normal behavoir after its shed

cheers shaun

He/she just might have been in a bad mood. If everything else is fine I wouldn't worry about it. Shedding makes them cranky ;) Snakes can't ask you nicely to stop when you are pissing them off. They have three options: running, hissing, and biting. Just be glad it wasn't number 3 :)
