Directly under the ceramic at it's basking spot level.. And one in the cool end. :)

I take it the temp gun would be much better, rather than having x2 digital thermometers?

With a temp gun, you can measure the temps anywhere in the cage, the animal itself, the water bowl and your morning tea all in a matter of seconds.

I have about 45 vivs, so that would mean needing 45 thermometers, or one temp gun.. it was an easy decision.

As long as your heat source is on a thermostat you do not need thermometers just a temp gun. Just never run any heat source without a thermostat. Place the thermostat probe in the hottest place the animal can get. ( right under the light on a perch or right on top of a heat mat) If you do this you will have no issues.

I just bought the zoo med one. I have heard good reviews on it. I got it for the same price as the thermometers I use. What do you guys think about the zoo med one? I liked how small it is.
