View Full Version : My first trade

So, a while back we purchased a Suri who we'd hoped was in shed (as the seller had advised) and would improve visually. Well, that wasn't the case, and a couple days ago I was able to find someone wanting to trade a Rainbow for her!

So today both the seller and I drove two hours to make the deal. This girl (The BRB. Seller was a guy.) is in my best guess/understanding 2-3 yrs old, and the sweetest snake I think I think I've ever handled. I need to think of a name that reflects that. OK, without further adieu:

Is it just me or are these head markings really bold?

Are all her markings thicker than average, or is it just that I'm not used to juveniles?

Love the almost florescent crescents.

lol maybe it's just the type of snake...but...they all look the same to me! Don't punish me! lol
I really can't tell the difference between all the BRBs. They are nice snakes...but they all look so similar!

I agree, Melissa, to a point. You have to pay attention to certain nuances, like background color. This girl (she really needs a name so I can stop calling her "this girl") you can see has a nice red tint behind orange spots. Some Rainbows seem to match spots and primary color, while some are orange, brown, chocolate, I've even seen a bronze color! Yeah, I'm trying to get some of those genes!! That guy is super cool too!

Thanks Cliff. Do you think any of her markings are more bold, or pronounced than "normal?"

Hey Roy, IMO a good trade!

Yes, her markings are bold, may be a Peruvian or have Peruvian blood. Next time she sheds nie for you, save it and I'll show you how to count scale rows. Might tell you something and might not.

Thanks everyone. I'm very happy with her.

Dave, I'll definitely reach out to you when she sheds. It'll be a while, last one was just three days ago.

Her markings are definitely on the heavy side, but that does happen with some Brazilians. I have a female who looks very much like her markingwise, and she is absolutely a Brazilian! Still, scale counts can't hurt....
