Hey guys...today i got given a gecko...a deformed gecko is what i thought it was but when i got it, it wasnt deformed..it was skinny..the owners had no clue what was going on as for it was like this since they got it a year ago...Here is 2 pics of different angles..

http://geocities.com/ratgals/gecko.html

Its got no muscle tone at all, won't eat for me...won't swallow water when i insert some in the mouth....

The stomach looks to have black in it..like bloated..i thought it could have been toxic waste but its been like this for a year now.

any suggestions besides taking it to the vet? (i knew that answer was coming)

I do not think there is much you will be able to do for that gecko on your own, it defiantly needs to see a vet. He looks very impacted. You could try soaking him in warm water (just watch to make sure his head stays above water); this may help to loosen some of what is caught up in his bellie.

Best of luck.

Yikes... I've never seen such a sad looking leo :( I've seen ones as skinny as that that have come back with a lot of TLC (and veterinary help), but never one that was bloated like that... you definitely need to take it into the vet.
As Matt said, soaking might help if part of the problem is impaction... But it needs to see a vet.

ohhhhhhh :( :( :( I got to this post after I read he had died! How awful I saw something similar to this on another forum a while back about a person who only fed vegetables to their leo and the tail looked like that, but that leo recovered. That is just so sad. Any idea how it got this way?

I would be pretty surprised that something as simple as bad husbandry would cause something like that but I could be wrong. The leo obviously had some severe digestive problems to be looking like that. Why it did I don't know and won't ever try to theorize. Honestly, I'm amazed it lived so long.
