My yearling Pastel BP just got a new home
i have his thermometer probe inside his Hot Hide to tell me the temp its getting where he is actually getting his warmth...
When empty it's about 92-95 degrees...today i came home and he was in there at i looked at the thermometer and it said 99.7 degrees...occupied
Is this too high?
his body heat i guess raised the temp inside by 5-7 degrees...is that ok?
do i need to lower his hot hide temp?

It is pretty high but I think he could handle it. Maybe you could invest in a thermostat

A little too high.......and snakes don't have body heat, they get thier heat from thier environment, they do not make it themselves
You need to find a better way to monitor the temps in your environment, the way it is now could be dangerous.

I would get a temp gun.

I agree. If the snake didn't like it, it wouldn't remain in the hide for very long. 99'F doesn't seem terrible as long as there's a gradient, and the cool end is in the low 80s.
I do agree you should get a temperature gun. That should be at the top of every reptile keeper's supply list, if they don't already have one.
"I agree. If the snake didn't like it, it wouldn't remain in the hide for very long."
You'd be surprised, snakes are quite stupid.
If they were as smart as you suggest, snakes would never get burned.
They get burned A LOT.

That is true. And BPs are actually among the stupidest of the lot.
But still...99'F isn't going to kill it as long as there's a gradient. If there was a heat rock in there, and he was keeping it in a 10-gal tank, I'd be more worried.
