yeah, I am pretty sure she is going through a shed right now, her eyes are bluish right now. I also have a female ball python, she is a year and 9 months old. I love my ball python but wanted something kinda between the size of a ball and burmese so I ended up with Molly. Where I got her from said they were told she was a jungle, but because of how big she is she had to be a coastal. I was just trying to confirm. Thanks everyone for your input

Looks like a pure coastal to me, which is a good thing. I feel like most "coastals" these days are jag siblings, which are jungle X coastal.

Thanks for all the input. I love her. I wanted something bigger than a ball but smaller than a burmese. I was recommended her by the people I got her from. They are a permanant reptile store at one of the flea markets here. What would be an average price for her, at this age / size?

I'd say coastal as well.

How old is Molly?
A pure coastal female can hit 10 ft+
Might I suggest you get "The Complete Carpet Python". Its a great book with everything you ever need to know about carpets and a bunch more just for the knowledge hungry. It's not cheap but worth every penny.

She is 3 years old I was told. Don't know her exact birthday.

I would believe you if you told me it was a coastal, but with carpet pythons intergrades from pure species are very difficult if not impossible to tell apart just by appearance alone.

Jag sibs do not necessarily have jungle in them. The jag gene comes from coastals, so all jags have at least some coastal in them, or are entirely coastal. Thus, a jungle jag has some coastal, but a coastal jag is entirely coastal.

The complete carpet python has a blurb about coastal and jungle carpets being almost to close geneticaly to class as seperate sub species. If they are in fact ever considered the same then many previously considered mixtures would infact still just be coastals. I hope they do more to check this out and I hope in fact they stay seperate.

Jungles can get bigger than that, so size alone is not always a reliable determinant of subspecies. Without knowing a trustworthy breeder that can give lineage info, there is really know way to say for sure. Could easily be an intergrade. Doesn't really matter either way unless you plan on breeding her. I also second another member's suggestion of getting the complete carpet python. You can order it directly from the authors nick mutton (inlandreptile.com) or Justin julander (australianaddiction.com). The pictures alone are worth the cost and it's full of great text, ranging from natural history to captive care and breeding.
