OK so heres the story....Im new to this forum.,...recently came from monstersnakesforums....those guys seem to be tyoo interested in gentics and mass production of tics more than the carte and passion as a apet. So i decided to come here...I have seen many successes here with this problem and the help everyone offers so Im hoping for the same. I purchased a hatchling baby albino purple tic from outback reptiles about a month ago...The retic is beautiful!! I love him...he was very snappy with me at first...But now for the most part...besides when your first open his cage..Hes become very calm....He ate a week after I got him...an adult mouse.....Then wehen I went to feed him again a week later...Nothing..very defensive of the mouse and rat pup..Ive tried different things...So i left him alone....then he shed...I wated a few days after the shed...Nothing He hasnt eaten since the end of may...a little over 3 weeks....I know tyhis has only been his second shed since birth..Hes very young...so I have offered food every 3 days pretty much.. He was in a 55 gallon tank...I moved him into a 10 gallon tnak...aspen bedding...2 hides...water dish...Temps range from 75-83 on cool side throught the day and night...and theres a hot side of about mid to high 90's but is always just warm to the touch due to an uth heater...so its never hot so I know its ok and wont hurt him....I nalways notice that uth seem to read higher temps when measured by a probe....but I have been told as long as its not hot to the touch its perfect....Anyway my setup all seems to be great for him...his cage is covered....14 hours light 10 hours dark...on a timer...IK have had retics before...big ones havent in the past few years..I have bnever had a problem getting retics or burms to eat so it stresses me out alot....He has killed the prey before but doesnt eat afterwards....I just dont know what to do...I spent alot of money on him...hes gorgeous I really wisdh he would eat but im gfetting worried...any advice would be greatly appreciated and I would try anything at this point...Ive heard of scenting with chicken broth?? I never tried that....I will post pics asap...I have inspected him I see a very healthy baby boy...No signs of mites or anything else so Im stumped..
thanks in advance
Mike

Heres some pics of my baby:) and guyess what!! amazingly!! right after I posted this and sprayed his cage to raise the humidity..and then turned out the light...Waited an hour and introudced an adult mouse....I checked back an hour later...And it was gone!!! im in shoick Im upset I missed the feeding but thrilled that it happend!!! So now Should I leave him in the 10 gallon? Im hoping he continues this feeding response...Ill feed again tuesday every 5 days....How long before I should handle and move him into his larger 55 gallon home?

If the 55 gal has a lot of ground cover like leaves and foliage plus some extra hides it will be fine

i would leave him in the smaller tank until he eats regular for you mate

too much space can sometimes stress a snake out

i would also stop handling him until he's eating regular

he's a good looking retic:)

cheers shaun

Im goin gto offer him a mouse again today...its been 5 days since his last meal...I misted the cage today and last night...In a few hours I will fopfer it to him:) fingers are crossed:) he should shed by thre end of the month so I figured if he eatys now for me and at least once after his shed I will put him back in his larger cage! Cant wait to see him grow up

So like I thoguht I offered the mouse just now....No go...being defensive of it like he was before and ignoring it. I dont understand I have been keeping the humidity up I tohught that might have been what helped last time...But still nothing. Its been 5 days since his last feed. I just thought he would of continued to have a good feeding response for me...So where do I go from here?
