View Full Version : Green Iguanas
These are the two Green Iguanas that live at my house.
This is my iguana Roxy. She is 7 years old and somewhere between 5 and 6 feet, closer to 6. She is quite thin though. She looks pretty "manly" because of her orange coloring but every year I get 50 or so eggs from her. *L*

This is my roomates iguana, Jub Jub. He is about 3 feet, and a mean little bugger. Whips, runs, bites, etc. He lives upstairs away from Roxy as I have no intention of them ever spending time together. And funny enough, althoug he is a male he is far far more feminine than Roxy could hope to be. hahaha

Thanks for looking my my overly common iguana photos! *L*

I LOVE ig's!!!
If I had the time and $, Id have a houseful of them...
Nice looking kids you got there!
Honestly though for myself, as much as I love Roxy and Jubs I won't have another iguana, or replace them when (heaven forbid) one passes on. Like you said, they take incredable amounts of time and money. :)

I've got to give you and your roommate HUGE credit. Green iguanas are being downplayed by most people in the reptile world... I agree for the most part, but nonetheless, I give you credit.
You've gone and successfully raised two of the nicer looking Greens, no doubt providing them with more than sufficient housing. Keep up the fantastic work, and I only wish that there were more people as dedicated as yourself and your roommate.
LATER.
Dedicated or enslaved? *LOL*
Dedicated when the cage is clean and she's looking all cute and letting me pet her.
haha Enslaved when I sleep in until 2 in the afternoon on accident after a long weekend and wake up to a severe beating from my own pet because Breakfast is a couple hours late. *LOL*

Those igs are gorgeous and I just love looking at pics of them. I've two of my own that enslave me, but every ig has its own unique look and I never tire of seeing other folks' pics.
Roxy doesn't look thin to me in that pic, was she working on some eggs at the time? I'd say her belly looked a nice size for an adult ig. She looks quite healthy with a nicely filled out tail base and cute slightly rounded thighs.
I'm not quite such a slave yet! Amazon is only about 14 inches, would probably be about 22 if not for a stub tail and so s/he hasn't learned to throw his weight around yet. Gizmo will have been with me a full month tomorrow and so she has yet to assert her reign over my household. I haven't even gotten the stink eye from her yet, and she's a pretty good size for a 2 year older at 46 inches.
Hopefully these 2 won't gang up on me and start the reign of terror at the same time. ;)
Post more pics!!!!

mmmm iguanas :P
is that the infamous monster Jub Jub ?? LOL
i got my Griffin from Candace too
my boy is only about 3 ft so far and about 3 yrs old (guess)
I think Roxy looks great and not thin.
Right now Griffin is asleep on top of the uro encl...he makes a fuss to get out of his 5H x 4W x 3D encl whenever he sees me and if i don't let him out when he wants...he poops all over the encl...he'll even move the towels aside to poop on the carpet...brat
still I wouldn't trade him for the world
The summer she was really weird. She was attacking me when I went in her cage and refused to touch the ground.
Since I fed Roxy on the ground she wouldn't eat for a week or more at a time. I didn't like letting this go on ang on so I would give in and fed her on her shelf but I also didn't like developing that bad habit and wanted her to learn to touch teh ground again. But one day it just all went away and she came to the floor and ate.
But since that espisode took place right after she laid 40 eggs, and then during she didn't eat, she lost about 3 pounds I'd say and hasn't put it back on. Its somewhat scary because she should be developing her eggs this month or next. I hope she makes it through this year being 7 years old and somewhat thin for her at this point. But I am crossing my fingers.
:) thansk for the comments
