Okay, so it's not really herping, but it was the closest match.

Now that summer is upon NA, let's see what kind of crawlies you have in your yard. Here are some things found in Canada's Capital...

This chrysalis has been hanging under the hand rail of my deck since early summer 2011. This morning all that time spent hanging around paid-off...

This (whatever it is) is totally out of it during daylight hours. You couldn't budge this thing with C-4 until dark

This is Pat (Paterkillar). He took up residence in my Dill patch last year and over the course of about 2 weeks he quadrupled in size and ate *all* my Dill

This is just a random spider in the yard, but it wasn't until I magnified the image that I noticed it was snacking on a fly

Here's one from a Fun With Flies series I snapped just for fun. These guys are just about invisible to the naked eye, so it wasn't easy to capture

This big girl crossed the patio last year. First and last time I've seen one here

And last but not least, we've got tons of these things all over the place. A great variety of colours and sizes, but this is one of my favourite shots

Very cool photo's, I really like looking at bugs! I haven't seen anything cool this year, hoping to find a pumpkin spider though! Cool that you got to see the cacoon hatch out, that's not something you'll likely see again.

I like bugs too. Hell, most of my best friends are bugs, relatively speaking :P

It's really speaks to Nature that the chrysalis survived extended periods of both +40 C and -40 C. I mean, I couldn't do that hanging under some guy's handrail for over 8 months :)

lol. I'm the opposite of most, I look forward to finding them in my backyard! I would be the one running around picking them all up.

P.S. the yellow spider with the huge abdomen is a female Banded Argiope Spider (Araneus trifasciata)

Okay Todd, I'm kinda cheating  because this photo was taken last summer but it's pretty cool nevertheless! Epic battle between a spider and a cicada...
