I've heard that some research was done on the correlation between respitory infections and sphagnum moss use in snake cages. I have used sphagnum moss in all my Brazilian and Columbian Rainbow cages and never had any problems. Have anyone heard of something like that?

I have used sphagnum moss with snakes, lizards, chelonians, amphibians for years, with positive results. Never heard it causing RI?

I use it with my blood and have not had any problems. I could see if it was left in the cage and became moldy or had mildew, but with proper husbandry there shouldn't be any problems.
I've used sphagnum moss in many applications in the apst and never experienced any difficulties of that sort. The largest problem I have ever run into with the stuff is difficulty spotting messes :p This is the first I have ever heard of it in relation to respiratory infections. Where were these supposed studies done?

Thanks guys, I have also used it in my hide boxes for a long time with no RI problems.
But does anyone know of any specific research done on this subject?
