.. and probably Minotauro too.. They both escaped (due to my error, obviously) on feeding night, and although we found Minnie, it was too late. She'd been without heat for too long, at the wrong time. I feel awful. So sorry Dave. My error cost one of your babies the ultimate price.

Jeez that's a shame. How colds your house?

They got down into the A/C vent. A snake trying to digest doesn't stand a chance. (I've since tried again to snake-proof all the upstairs vents.)

Well that explains it.

So sorry to hear this Roy. Unfortunately snakes are natural born escape artists, if there is any way out, they will find it. All you can do now is learn from your experience and make sure it does not happen again.

Another good reason to feed in their cage not a temp feeding enclosure.

Yikes... That's rough :sorry: I hope you find Minotauro...

That's weird that he got into the AC vent, any smart snake will seek out heat; be it behind a fridge, a baseboard heater or a slice of heat tape of another bin. Any escapee I have ever heard was found no more than 10 feet from its original enclosure, near heat.
As sad as this is, I hope you learn from it and make your enclosures truly escape-proof.

Roy, I'm so sorry! The burden of keeping an eye on multiple feeding containers is one of the reasons I always feed mine in their vivs. How long was she out for before you found her? And has there been any sign of Minotauro, who hopefully is curled up somewhere warm in the original escape room wondering that all the fuss is over? Fingers crossed for you!

RIP, little girl.

Just a quick clarification:

I feed in their tubs. Feeding tubs don't seem to be worth the extra effort to me either.

They escaped from the back of their respective tubs due to a shelf I'd installed not being level.

Each of my Rainbows now has a lid on its tub.

Ah, that makes more sense. Nice upgrade in procedure.

Roy, any updates? Have you found Minotauro?

Yes! Minotauro has been found and seems to be doing well. At the advice of others, i skipped this most recent feeding to let him recuperate a bit longer, but I fully expect him to eat this weekend.

Thanks for checking up on him!
