Friend of my dad's had bought him for his kid, who quickly lost interest so they were looking for a new home for him. I had never actually seen one in person, I could never have imagined such cuteness!

I was just wondering how much a Crestie is supposed to eat? He does not seem to be eating much out of his bowl, unless the amount is too small to measure (I weight in on a gram scale). He will eat off my finger or the tip of an oral syringe (I mix his food in a syringe since I find it easier to make small quantities). I fed him a few times like this and he licks it like crazy. Do you think I am just stressing him out?

Am I doing okay, or handling him too much? He seems quite calm and comes right on me. It's getting hotter out here, so I am currently keeping him at room temp (~24-25 degrees). I read that this is okay, but what do you think?

I am not usually in the habit of getting something without really thinking about it and researching first, but this little guy got me off guard. Please share any Crestie knowledge that you think I should know! Thanks. I have not tried any crickets yet, do you think I should get some pin heads and see or is it not necessary?

Here are the pics... just out of curiosity, what is this color called? His underside turns moss green sometimes, and his top half turns kind of beige.

It looks like a Harlequin and if you get a shot from the top for me it might also be a pinstripe too. He also probably has some dalmation in him because of the little black dots that he has on him. I had this problem with my crestie too with the eating thing. It might look like they are not eating but they just eat such a small amount that it is really hard to tell. What are you feeding him? I'm guessing Crested Gecko Diet. If you aren't I think you should use that instead of what you are using as it has every thing they need. You also don't need to buy crickets but you can for a treat if you want. Just make sure you powder the crickets. His tempeture seems fine. I usually have mine at 70-75 degrees but a little higher or lower is a good temp. They are really easy to care for and really hard to kill. lol

Thanks for the replies everyone. And thanks for the info GarterPython. I'll try to get a picture of him from the top tomorrow. Good to know that it's normal to not notice them eating a significant amount. I think sometimes the "worrying gene" just kicks in when logically, how much can we really expect such a tiny thing to eat, lol.

He is eating Repashy, which I gather is the "gold standard" of Crested Gecko diets judging by everything I've researched. Do they like to have some fruits as treats sometimes?

I give him some banana once in awhile as a treat and he loves it just not to much because it is actually not as good for them. You can also make a smoothie for them once in a while. If you do make the smoothie just make sure that you search on the internet for safe food for them to eat. I had a really good site but I can't remember the name. Just look on google.
