So I somehow ended up with an IJ last night. There was a benefit auction for USARK at the first annual north east carpet fest. I put the opening bid up, nobody else bid, and 30 seconds later I had an IJ in my lap. He's a 2010 male produced by Luke Snell, who donated him for the auction. The dam is Dore, a 2006 MPenn, and the sire is Mersault, a 2006 GQ x WC. The wife and I are more than happy with him. ;) We also got a ridiculuous deal on him and the proceeds were donated anyway--I almost feel bad about it. Big thanks to Mr. Snell.

I snapped a few quick cell phone shots before we put him away. He had a busy day yesterday, so we'll let him settle in for a few days then I can snap a few more.

Neither of the pics show his true color very well. He has quite a nice red and pink hue to him.

he's a really nice irian mate

colour wise, which picture is closest to how he looks in the flesh ?

he looks a really crisp white in the 2nd picture,in the first picture,he's an equally nice colour as well

outside shots once he's settled in,would be most appreciated.he has some great genetics in there, coming from those bloodlines.there are some amazing bloodlines in the states...!!

since you managed to get him at a steal, then maybe you could consider, getting him,a female irian,or say a 75% irian jaguar female.then you could produce, some nice high percentage irian jaguars.....

imo the irian and the jag, bring out the best of each other, its always been a favourite combination of mine

i look forward to updates of this wee guy

cheers shaun

Shaun, honestly neither shot does a great job. The top one kind of hints at the rosey hue, but under that lighting everything looks that color anyway. I'll try to get an accurate representation in a few days with a real camera. Eric Burke had a couple 2012 IJs that I think shared at least one parent with mine. One had almost no black and a beautiful red hue with amazing eyes. If it was a girl I think we would have come home with a pair :) probably a good thing though... one unexpected snake per night is probably enough. Somebody else bought Eric's two ijs that night. They were awesome. I'm proud of myself for not coming home with 10 snakes. There were so many awesome snsnakes at the auction. I even had to turn down a free proven breeder male coastal.

So here are some pictures from Luke. These were taken in January, so they're a bit old. For now they are better than the ones I took, but they still don't really show the pinkish tones he has.

Haha, Luke is the guy who bred and donated him. The snake does not have a name yet :)

Thanks. We're very pleased to say the least. I'll put up pics of his parents later. I think he got the best parts out of each of them.

he's a very nice irian mate

its hard to catch those true colours, especially with irians going through colour changes,in the early to late evening

my pair of reduced pattern are an incredible colour at night, they lighten up and their yellow turns almost lavender, wish i could properly catch it with my camera

imo, irians are one of the most interesting carpets out there:)
