That's a pretty ball python, but does it stay that color? Axanthics turn more brown as they age, right?

seen that pic and fell in love, even though i'm not into morphs. LOVE though. I asked on there how it was doing, how big etc, but i don't think he checks those comments much : )
Mykee if you ever get a chance to get him to update, i would be thrilled. I've loved that snake since i first started looking up balls!

Melissa, Corey is one busy dude. Not only is he rebuilding his entire basement (over 3000 sq. ft) but he has to take care of roughly 1000 adult ball pythons as well as prepare for roughly 1500 babies come hatchling season. I'm surprised he has timt to come on here at all.

I truly hope that awesome Royal keeps that intense silver as he/she matures. That will be one killer looking adult!

as you know royal's aint my thing, but that is an incredable looking snake Roy

the genetics behind it are no doubt fascinating;)

you have to respect the top royal breeders and what they've done genetic wise for herpetology:D

i preffer mykee's potions better though

oh i know he must be. I have to admit though, i did fall in love with that snake. I have the photo saved on my computer somewhere under "awesome snake pics" or something lol
i may be all fussy about morphs and stuff now, but that is one i will never get over how beautiful it really is.

Saw that little guy on Monday when I was over at Corey's place. Waaaay better looking in person.

it is a VERY impressive looking snake

roughly how many of these snakes,do you think have been produced, world wide mykee ?

also starting from scratch, how many years of selective breeding, would it take to produce one of these ? (i'm NOT thinking about trying to make one,i'm trying to comprehend, the amount of time and effort, not to mention all the genetics, that have went into producing, this stunning example of a royal at its VERY best.....!!!

it's a HUGE credit to your friends capabilitys and Royals as a species...!!

everytime i look at this thread,it never ceases to amaze me,how that snake seems to just get, better, and better, looking all the time (NEVER thought i'd say, that about a Royal   :D )

IMO,producing a snake like that,is ALL about " CREATING " something, something that looks so special and i'm assuming its also quite rare ?

IMO,it also shows us,what can be achieved, regards mixing snake genetics, with a lot of effort and thought, truely amazing vibrant coloured snakes pop out them lovely eggs:D

that said.....

Mykee i have to ask,how much would a snake like this cost, should one be availible ?????

i honestly did NOT think i'd see a Royal Python, that would impress me looks wise,as much as this guy has done;)

cheers shaun

Wow that thing is hot. Hopefully it doesn't brown out like other axanthics.

Aaron_S
05-14-12, 08:02 AM
Kyle, it's a different kind of axanthic. It's a red axanthic which is a co-dom/dom trait and to my knowledge they don't brown out as other axanthics. They generally keep a really cool red colour. Corey has done a lot with that mutation.

Shaun, I believe Corey has the only few available in the world, and I highly doubt that any of them are for sale.
To make one, takes some time:
Assuming he starts with a het red axanthic and a genetic stripe, he would breed the two, with a 50% per egg of producing het reds het genetic stripe.
He would then grow them up (three years) and breed them together. He then has a 1/16 shot of hitting the red axanthic genetic stripe.

Wait... if this is a co-dom then how is there a het red ax?

mykee
05-14-12, 09:07 PM
The single form of any co-dom in technically a het, Corey just took advantage of that.
