Hey let's play "Name That Snake". Rules are "winner" get's to post a picture of snake from their collection or from the internet. Only thing is you need to know the Latin and Common name for the picture posted. No Morphs,hybrids,aberrant patterns all natural Phenotypes. Who's in? I will start of with this one.

Omg lol I threw myself of with the yellowish bands.

I only have 2 snakes though. One is super obvious and one is most likely a cross :/ I guess I'll post anyway

How are you going to use google search when you are just shown a picture? You can use it, but be advised that a lot of images are misrepresented not only on the internet but also in some of the older and newer books too...... Just a heads up, but use any tool you feel comfortable on using.

Yeah. I made a guess on the Mexican Milk and then second quessed myself and went to google and concluded that it's not a Mexican.

And guess what! My first guess was right and google was wrong! Haha

That one sure looks like a Northern Water Snake -Nerodia sipedon sipedon It's hard to tell by just the head.

Kinda looks like a yellow anaconda.
But what I've seen of anacondas, their eyes are set closer to the nose.
Maybe something from the morelia genus?

Nope, not a carpet or anaconda. I suppose it would help if there were some sort of size reference in the photo. Here's a hint: WAY smaller than an anaconda. This snake was approximately 3 feet long...

I love that Sunbeam! That's my hubby's dream snake! But no one breeds them anywhere near us and I've heard that shipping alone is enough stress to kill them :( Unfortunate because he is SO in love with that snake.

There are some really good books, one of my favorite when I was first starting out was "Kingsnakes & Milk snakes" by Ronald G. Markel. There are plenty more out there, Milksnakes by Applegate is good too....For all the rest, I learned by reading books and depictions online....
