These are such pretty snakes - what do you select for in choosing your breeding stock besides clear colors. Is it better to have lots of triads, wider bands, etc - or are there any other features that you are looking for?

Mary. the first one is pretty "normal". although it does not have a LOT of black.I like to get ones with lots of clean bands and I'm trying to selectively breed some of the black out of them as well. I love them all and there are about 3 "phases" and pattern types also. (See Steve Osborne's Professional Breeders site for all 3.) here's one of my '02 males. More complete banding farther down the sides. Not a lot of black either. More red. cool.

Wow! I have seen lots of pictures of these before and never really noticed the difference in appearance the amount of black makes. While the thicker black bands set off the other colors nicely, the last two you posted, with the thin bands are really striking. Very nice and thanks for the added info - not a species we have, but nice to know what breeders are looking for.
