Meet Recoil!! Nippy as can be. No nero issues that I can see yet. Breeder is a little "off" but no worries. He was not expensive.
Ready to eat the camera....

We will tame this guy. He is handlable even now but darts occasionaly and snaps when you touch him in the viv. He has struck at my sweater but I picked him up just the same and he calmed quite a bit. I'm watching him now looking for anything"not right" with him and he cruises bigtime!! He's about 10 months old.

I wish it was solid the whole way. For me it's the eyes. Our jungles both have dark eyes so his being so light is a real change for us.

I have read most of the carpet guides on that site and they are all good reads.
He has no signs of parasite and actualy had a fresh poo right before I got there which looked very normal. He is quarentined to my sons room until at least mid summer. Kids already call him RC for short.

Very pretty. I've never seen on quite like him. My jungle is the only snake I have who will bite me repeatedly while I'm holding her. She's such a brave little thing! But I guess this is not unusual behavior for this species when they're young?

Ok just one more.
He ate for us last night. I decided to feed him because he looks like he is soon going to be blue. Took it right away no problem. He is quite the freak right now. Strikes at us and hits the glass. I have sprayed a bit of water onto the glass to make sure its spotty and he can see it but it was no help. Couple days and we are going to start handling. Should be interesting ;)

^^^^^
imo, this is normal behavior for a carpet hatchling,i've found jungles to be the worst for it
usually once they get a bit of size about them and realise your NOT going to eat them, they settle down with handling

I've never seen one quite like this boy either. Really great score :)
As for calming them down, it can really pay-off to let them come to you. I think I've only ever taken either of mine out of their tanks perhaps twice - the rest of the time I let them come out on their own and they do tend to come right to me as soon as I open their lids now that we've established trust.
If you let it come to you, there's a good chance it'll be distracted because it's looking for things to climb, and you can be one of those things. If you can get it to climb on you a few times directly from when you open it's cage, it'll build trust quite quickly and they're a lot easier to handle and redirect when they're distracted like that.

Wow. So I go to see him after work today. I walk up to his tank and bang. He nails the glass then studders back like he was seeing stars. This is the most aggressive snake I have ever seen.

Had him out for 10 min today. Struck me 6 times and musked on my glove. All in all it was a nice visit :)
