humid hide or humid aquarium...

Recently got a brb neo and I had to put her in my 40long tank I have reptibark as my substrate a large water dish a small humid hide on the warm side and a uth and 100? Watt infrared bulb.

Now I have been told and read about a thousand different ways to approach the humidity problems brbs require.

I decided the easiest and most logical was the humid hide as I didn't want to soak the entire tank and I can upgrade humid boxes as she grows.

She has started figuring out her cage I had to show her the humid hide but she has been sleeping in it now no problem and then she will go lay in the water bowl to cool off

Def want input and any other ideas

Maybe try a slightly larger humid hide so there can be a heat gradient in the hide? That way she wouldn't have to leave it to cool off.

No need for a humid hide. Give the snake the proper humidity through out its enclosure. Don't make it choose humidity over proper temps.

A glass tank is problematic for keeping humidity up but if that is what you have to work with then I would ALWAYS keep a close eye on the humidity. Daily misting would be a nice start.

I have reptiles in both glass cages and wood cages. I've never had any problem keeping proper humidity levels in either one. I would say keep the entire closure at the proper humidity so the snake only has to worry about heat gradients.

The humidity needs of the snake need to be met throughout the enclosure not just in one hide. I keep all my vivs at the correct humidity for the snake AND provide a humid hide for each as well (except my GTP and JCP who dont use hides anyway)

ok so where.should i start with bedding i had a breeder say cypress but said he had a gnat/ fruitfly problem from keeping brbs

I use reptibark for all my snakes, they range from needing 40% up to 90% humidity and i have no issues with it for any of that range. It is also good at soaking up spillages when they tip their water bowls and it releases the moisture back into the air slowly so spraying only needs to be done once a day :)
