Otto tipped over his water dish so I was taking it out so I could fill it back up again, and he started striking at the container. I guess he was freaked out that his dish suddenly was out to get him.

I also had planned on handling him today (I made a thread about him being agressive, for those who haven't seen it), but I don't think that's going to be happening today :p

Edit: Just tempted my luck and got him out, he struck at me and bit himself. :/

The photos are funny :p
The video is sad though- must hurt to strike that water dish repeatedly ...

Luckily the water dish is really thin flexible plastic, I really hope he can calm down quickly.

aww poor little brat! lol so cute. I just suggest no hovering, and get in and out quickly and he'll learn that you're not a threat...eventually *lol*

He might tame down a bit more if you put him in a front-opening enclosure rather than reaching for him from the top. Sometimes snakes freak out when they're reached from on top because it gives them an instinctual reaction of a predator (bird, etc) coming down to get them. Some snakes work MUCH better if approached from the same level.

oh that's true. Our carpet python hated anything "over" her. She's still not too keen on it, but she knows the routine now and has calmed down.
