o Cass was very sluggish and didn't eat much today, there is some loose skin and I feel she is loosing wieght. The basking temp dropped down to 112 problems with the bulbs I immediately replaced them and now it's 140-150 so I hope that was the problem.... I got her minnows but she disnt take any. She is Intrested alot but she didn't have the strength. Im going to try again later. The ony thin she would eat was dubia. I left food in there for her tho. I'm very concerned and the appointment for the vet is Monday at 520 pm.

How much and how often has she been eating?

Everyday like a couple dubia/crickets. For the past 5 days.

Just curious Brady but i noticed in one of you pictures that your thermometer read 72F,usually if you open your cage you get a temp drop, but to get to room temps-was it open for awhile. Are you sure your ambient temps within the cage isn't to low?

Moe makes a good point here, make sure the air temps inside your cage are like 88-95 degrees.

I keep my cage like a sauna, and my monitors are hyperactive little monsters.

I've always kept Cassie's cool side at like 74-80f I'll add another flood light on the basking spot then!

I do let the cage cool to around 75 degrees at night, it encourages my tykes to get in the burrow and go to bed.

When I let the cage stay hot all night, I would sometimes catch Cera out running around at 12:00 am or later.

A cool dark cycle copies night more closely.

Okay thanks Wayne! This is deffintly the reason why she chills on the basking spot and around it. I'll add another 45 watt flood light

I find that Harley is MOST active at around 10pm...every night, like clockwork he runs around, trying to figure out a way out of the enclosure...digging, hunting and climbing around. his day lights are off at 8...but he just goes anyway... he is active during the day too.. but just most active at 10. why i dont know...He has been hunting snails all morning today... my daughter found like 15 last night and strategicly placed them in different places inside his enclosure this morning...so he should have a fun day today lol... she also put like 20 earthworms in the soil just for fun... I hope its ok for us to put bugs and stuff around his enclosure to keep him ocupied during the day... he seems to enjoy it... im having a bit of trouble with the hot side...its sitting at just over 105 degrees... there are four lights...is there any way to bring up temp for him...he isnt spending to much time on the basking spot... but it seems low... amb temp is around 80 on the top floor and 70 on the bottom...

How are you measuring those temps? With a probe or with a temp gun?

Oh sorry, Brady. I was actually asking BlueButterfly. I know you have a temp gun and everything. Glad that Cassie is doing better!

oh.. we dont have a temp gun or a probe yet.. we just have six thermometers and hydrometers one of each in each corner and oneof each in the middle of each floor. hubby was showing me some guns he is ordering one from snap on on monday when they come to his shop... we only found out about them a few days ago believe it or not... they also have probes too... what should we be ordering? the temp guns range from 103.00-190.00 and the probes from 15-90.00. i really want something that will give us the best most reliable reading...

Temp guns are great, you can quickly measure multiple points in the cage with a lot of accuracy :)

Brady, you are an inspiration.. I wish every young person put as much effort into their monitors as you do Cassie.

Wow, no nothing that extensive is necessary. Temp gun from Robyn at Proexotics will cost you about $35 I think. Very inexpensive and a quality item. I think a decent probe is around $30.
