As most of you know, all our rats are now in the South Colony including 16.63 breeders, babies, preweaned, growouts and reserves. These rats total over 300. We are using 11 5-tub racks to house them and yet we are still having a hard time keeping up with demand. As of last night we got a reprieve from that as our wholesaler is overstocked, resulting in us being able to acquire a fresh influx of new rats. Between 50 weaners, 20 smalls, 10 mediums, 5 large and 22 jumbos, all of which were already sold before we even picked them up, not to mention an even bigger stock of frozen acquisitions, most of which were already sold, the pressure on our current stock has been somewhat relieved for now. This will allow us to build our stock to numbers that can more adequately serve the needs of this demand.

Our mice are also doing really well. Some of the breeder coplonies and all the growouts and acquisitions are at the South Colony now but the rest of the breeder colonies have yet to be moved. We use lab cages for them and once again, the demand is outstripping our ability to produce. Fortunately, one of our jumbo rat customers also breeds mice which he uses to help pay his feed bill. This supplements our supply so we're not so easily depleted as far as mice are concerned.

Our snakes are always fed because they take #1 priority from what we have. I feel good about this and this thread will be the start to continuing updates on what we do and how things are going. Any other rodent breeders feel free to chime in as you see fit.

Todays numbers after cleaning and sizing them....

102 pinkies, 39 fuzzies, 28 pups, 36 weaners,20 smalls, 8 mediums for a total of 233

In reserve...

4 weaners, 18 smalls, 12 mediums, 17 large, 14 X large for a total of 65

16.60 breeders and 0.7 future breeders for a total of 72

All this adds up to 381 rats. Numbers are going up despite the continued high demand. We havent even included what we have in our mice which includes 4 litters of hoppers plus 2 litters of pinkies. This is really good.

It is official. All our rodents are at the South Colony now. The last of the mouse lab cages were moved yesterday. The deal is sweet. Lauras mom handles the day to day care of them plus coordinating the sales. I go there on Saturday to help with the cleaning sorting and sizing plus help with any heavy lifting and Laura goes there with mid week sorting and sizing. We split the proceeds and I get what I need to feed all my snakes. How cool is that?

Needed in order to keep up with the demand :) I added that wrong anyway. It totals 390. Oh well. Our goal still remains 15.90 breeders. This plus 60+ in reserves are what we need to satisfy everyone who needs feeders. Im telling you, the market is crazy and weve only scratched the surface of what is actually out there in the metro.

These are the latest pics of her basement with all 11 racks there. The mice are in lab cages underneath and on top of the work table. The will get a shelving unit soon. :)

Ok I got new numbers for both rats and mice...

Rats:
15.62 breeders, 1.9 future breeders, 124 pinkies, 83 fuzzies, 28 pups, 29 weaners, 37 smalls and 6 mediums

reserves:
4 weaners, 8 smalls, 24 mediums, 15 large and 15 X large

This totals 460 rats

Mice:
11.51 breeders, 3 smalls, 35 pinkies, fuzzies and hoppers

This totals 110 mice.

This does not include our frozen stock which is still sizeable and most of that is already sold. Im very pleased with the way things are looking right now and at this rate, we should surpass our peak within the next couple of months in spite of the continued high demand.
