I just got a new wooden vivarium set up for my carpet and just wanted to get some opinions on what humidity is too high for these guys. Info about the set up: I am using orchid bark substrate, radiant heat panel, cage has sliding glass doors, three circle vents, one low cool side, two high hot side and about 10 small holes for added air flow.

The humidity seems to be set around 65% right now, the substrate is new so not sure if it has a bit more moisture in it, smallish water bowl is in it as well. I have heard 40-60% is good for carpets but just wanting some more opinions if 65% is too high. Might well go down in the future, air is pretty humid here right now as well.

If it is too high any advice would be great, was thinking of mixing the orchid bark with aspen for the substrate, not sure how that would turn out though.
Calculated using a digital meter.

Thanks for any input, it is appreciated.

40-60 is ok, jungles are pretty hardy snakes and i wouldnt think 65 for a short while will do any harm. I find my reptibark is quite wet straight from the bag but over a couple of days it dries pretty well. I would keep an eye on your humidity for a couple of days and see if it comes down on its own before doing anything drastic.

Thanks, I was thinking the bark may be damp since I just took it out of the bag yesterday. I think if I don't see it go below 65% over the next week I might try to do something.

carpets have no specific humidity requirements

all mine shed and feed perfect at 40% to 60% humidity (uk room humidity)
