getting yearling corn to switch to f/t

the past show i went to i picked up a gorgeous motley het for ghost. and i was told she ate f/t. low and behold i get it home wait a few days to let it adjust and try to feed it and it doesn't go for it. wait a week try again and nothing. so i tried live and it went right for it. i've tried switching it over but it's being stubborn. anyone have so tips to getting it switched over?

Wait it out a few weeks or even 2-3 months. If you offered live you just added more time on the waiting game. As long as its not loosing weight don't worry about it. It took my first royal 5 months to take f/t I offered it every 14 days and eventually he took it and now eats it all the time.

Make sure you heat it up really well and braining also helps a ton.

Corns aren't nearly as picky as some other snakes, so you should definitely be able to get your snake to switch. Like Gungirl said, just keep trying and the snake should eventually take f/t. Make sure the mouse is nice and warm when you go to offer it.

You might also want to try leaving the f/t mouse in the enclosure for a while if your snake doesn't eat it right away. You can even leave it in overnight, but just be sure to throw it away the next morning if it remains uneaten.

using fresh killed is usually the easiest route to go when switching from live

as Kat said,heating them properly helps,i usually give the head a little extra heat

Yes, I first thought my corn was going to be problematic switching over (I have 2 that were fed live before me) but it turned out he wouldn't eat while I was there, so I closed the feeding tub and covered it with a towel, left him for about 1/2 hr and when I went back he had eaten.

Give it a shot, also the fresh-killed helps live feeders switch as mentioned above.

it does take fresh killed so ill do that for a while and see if it will switch over to heated f/t. and how do you guys heat your mice? shes still eating pinkies and small fuzzies.

I put all my prey items in a glass bowl onto a radiator to give them general heat and then as i am ready to feed each item i press the skull against the radiator to give the head the hottest heat signature. I found this effective even with corns that dont have heat pits.

I take all my mice right from the freezer to a bowl of warm water. I let them soak for about 30-45 minutes depending on the size of prey and how many I have in the bowl. Then I change it to fresh HOT water right before feeding and let them sit for a min in that to heat up good. Some people don't like this method and they prefer to take the item out of the freezer a few hours before hand and let them thaw at room temp and use a hair dryer to heat them up right before feeding. My snakes will take them either way though.

Corns are easy to switch, you just have to wait him out.
