View Full Version : Rubbermaid container smells even after cleaning it
Hey everyone. My baby python regius stays in a rubbermaid cage with holes drilled into it for air flow. However, it's starting to smell... well, snakey. I've cleaned it a couple times already, now that she has used the bathroom. Is there any hope for it, or will it forever be infused with the smell of snake piss?
Set it in the hot sun for a day or two, uncovered (without the snake, of course). If that doesn't do it, I am not sure what will.
I've got Rubbermaids that I've had in use for over 10 years that don't smell at all. As long as you clean them well, they don't stink.

Bleach it really good and see if that helps. Also what kind of substrate do you use? I found Reptile bark really helps with the odor.

What are you cleaning it with? What's the cleaning routine like?

Rubbing alcohol works very well for this purpose.
