Was looking up some random stuff when i came across these. Squeee!!! I can't tell if they're so ugly i love them, or they're just cute!

Elephant trunk snakes are pretty cool little buggers- I've seen them for sale at expos near me quite frequently. They are one of the few snakes that are completely aquatic- their skeletons are too fragile to hold up their organs for long outside of the water, but they are agile, light and graceful under water. From what I understand, they do well in pond-type water, i.e. a tank with lots of plant life and minimal filtration. You still need a filter to remove wastes and bacteria, but they do not thrive when the water is kept as clean as fish like it.

Wow. Seriously something i would consider. Sad to see the pics of them out of the water, now knowing they are that fragile. I decided to google a care sheet and came across this one

So cute! One of the other pages says they are difficult to care for...but then i saw they were feeding it goldfish : ( that might be one reason for them getting sick in captivity. Might be an interesting project one day though for someone who could put a lot into their care. Hmmm!
