So this is just the worst feeling in the world. My sav cassie is just bored in her BOX. i cant even call it an enclosure. shes just always laying somewere because theres nothing for her to do! all the crickets run up the wooden walls. i hate this. the new enclosure will be ready by this week but still i hate this..... it hurts see cassie like this :(

I know nothing about savs at all... but if you gave her a ball would she play with it?

Why not give her some things to play with? Introduce some new toys. There are these big toys meant for dogs that can be great for savs too... As you know, savs are pretty smart. You could use a ball like this one and put a treat in it (like some shrimp). She'll have to roll it around to get to the treats, making her use her mind. It's a more mentally stimulating activity. :)

My point was give her a new toy that will mentally stimulate her so that she's less bored.

You can get those balls at most pet stores that carry dog toys. You could put anything that's appropriate for a sav- garden slugs, whole snails, etc.

Well maybe the ball itself will intrigue her to play and explore it. Being able to roll it around may be fun for her!

Let her explore.

Like outside or the enclosure?

Out of the enclosure. Once you're able to get a hip leash on her you can take her outside in good weather.

Leave the enclosure door open. Let her go out on her own and go back in on her own.

i cant do that in the current enclosure, only in the new one.

Clean out a room, like make sure there is nothing she can squeeze up under, and block off the doorways. Let her roam in that room.
If your monitor is as you say bored, how is a new enclosure going to be different.Or should i ask why aren't you doing things now that you would in your new enclosure. To me you have other issues other than boredom-it's either ill or you need to get your monitor into another mode,as in an environment that brings up it's energy level. Is the monitor bored is it responding to the conditions you have given it.

there will be more stuff to do in a bigger enclosure. her current enclousre is 5x2 and it sucks. she has room for her burrow a log, and a stack thingy. ofc a water dish to. i need to get her a bigger cage. should be in this week.

totally re-arange your monitors environment... they get familiiar with there habitat very quickly re-arranging means they have to explore to get familliarised with it again...
Also change the top 3/4" of substrate - smell stimulation.
If you have a bait and tackle shop in your area you could get shrimp thier.

Not yet, the enclosure might be ready tomorrow! So Im putting 50000% towards that!
How big is this new enclosure going to be and can it accomodate a deep substrate?
Does he just lay around,i know 5 x 2 isn't huge but it's not tiny. They will spend a lot of time burried, that's normal.I would hate for you to be stressed over normal monitor behaviour-but if he's laying in the open for long periods of time that's not good and not necessarilly about boredom-though i know you're minds prety much made up about that.

Once I get all the materials in my posession, I will be publishing the studies performed by Dr. Burghardt (Bio-Psychology) regarding Savannah Monitor intelligence and mental stimulation.
Persuant to my discussions with him, Monitors do in fact get bored.

shes just laying on top of her reyes stack. She eats but she just seems sluggish. the basking spot is 145-150 so i might lower it and see if it makes a difference.

I wouldn't lower the temperature. Lower temperatures encourage this behaviour. Like I said to you just now, this really makes me worried.

that's actually a good idea. If they stock live shrimp/crayfish you can just buy em there since there shouldn't be any weird chemicals on them.
