Okay, so not only is a good Carpet python totally comfortable lounging out in the open for hours on end, but most of them are real class acts as well. This one is no exception and she just lets me snap photo after photo after photo without even batting an eye, so to speak.
Sol being Sol and hanging-out wherever she's comfy...

Very nice as always Todd
Thanks, Trent, but I can't take any credit for any of my snakes, really. I didn't produce any of them and it's very doubtful that I'll ever let them reproduce, especially this particular female.
I'm just Food Guy. I only give them what they need to have a healthy and happy life. The rest is up to them 'cause I'm an Adapt or Perish kinda guy. I've just been lucky that they flourish under proper conditions, and this one is no exception. The only part of her that still resembles the snake she was when she came to me is the pigment of her skin, lol :)

Yeah, she was really perfectly distributed, weight-wise. Crazy Carpets, they get comfy anywhere :)
That's Skyler (Paraguayan Rainbow boa) in the 1/2 cleaned tank under Sol. I'm still waiting to put Skyler's tub back together 'cause Sol is still lounging there, lol.
Sol is an amazing carpet, truely one of a kind!

There simply aren't enough dedicated keepers in my area. There are Carpet pythons looking for homes every day in local classifieds. If something happens to change people's outlook on what being a responsible and dedicated keeper means, I'd reconsider it, but until they start putting drugs in the water or something to get that going, it's just not going to happen, lol. I cannot bring myself to become part of that problem by adding to the number of unwanted snakes out there :(

Nice looking carpet.
My Spot starts spending most of his time out in the open when he's hungry. Then when I feed him he usually hides for 4 days straight.

i'm assuming its like the uk carpet market,in being flooded with below average looking, mongeral carpets
sol on the other hand is a good quality carpet, with the genetics to produce high quality carpet hatchlings
imo, most countrys have a market for " high " quality examples,i have found that markets keepers,to be very passionate about morelia
being honest,i feel its a sin not to breed a good looking carpet,as there will always be,decent morelia enthusiasts looking for their offspring mate
i'm sure you would find buyers of the calibur your looking for, with sol's hatchlings mate

Sol herself was a leave-behind. She and her sibling (pictured below) were abandon by her previous owner when he moved and they were left sitting in the cage he put them in and he told the ex-roommate to do with them as she pleased. She had them for sale for a year at a reasonable price and still no one was interested. In the end, I found a home for the sibling and Sol came to me for nothing, so that should give you an idea of how dedicated folks here are.
The original owner bought the pair to breed them and make money. When he realized there was no market for them here, he abandon them and cut his losses.
I have zero respect for someone interested in breeding for profit - none, zip, nada, zilch. She's not the only outstanding snake out there, and I'm sure someone else with one equally as impressive will be more than happy to pimp it-out for the right dough. My conscience is clean and it's going to stay that way until someone pries her from my cold, dead hands and even then she's part of a succession plan and will be transferred to the care of someone who feels the same way as I do about breeding snakes. Carpet pythons are far from being in short supply, so there is no need for this snake to breed regardless of her quality.
Sol and Baxter - left behind by a breeder who cared more about potential profit than about the welfare of his charges...

thats pretty crazy stuff mate
i put breeding projects together, for the purpose of producing good looking carpets, not for profit
i would gladly give away a good looking carpet,to aid someone in a breeding project
its sad what happened to sol and her sibling, both are good quality morelia
i agree with your stance on not breeding her
cheers shaun

Thanks for your support, Shaun. I just couldn't stomach the thought of any offspring going through the same type of thing - it makes my skin crawl, lol. Right now I'm still firmly off the idea of letting Sol breed, but I realign myself every now and then, so perhaps I'll mellow in my extreme old age - that shouldn't take *too* long

That's disgusting, I hate hearing stories like that. I'm glad you were able to give a home to one and find a home for the other.
I Think I want one of these guys lol
They're awesome and so as yours

I really am disgusted by people like that. At least the ex-roommate took care of them long enough to get them sold or rehomed. I'm glad you have her!
