So my coastal took his first rat today. He's been eating hoppers vigourously since we got him a bit over a month ago. I finally found a local guy who breeds rats so I got to go by and hand pick the sizes. I didn't expect trouble getting him switched to rats since this guy doesn't waste time when you dangle food in front of him. But I have heard horror stories about getting them switched over so I'm definitely relieved. These are a bit bigger than the hoppers he was eating which I think is perfect anyway. Happy snake and happy snake caretaker. The local breeder definitely beats the frozen mystery bag of poop-covered freezer-burned rat pups I saw at the local show too. I'd much rather know the animals are fresh and cared for properly until the time of their death.

I think its usually other carpets that are hard to switch. Coastals are notorious for not caring what they eat, just that they are eating haha.

Mine certainly seems that way.

Congrats, I'm kinda in that battle right now with my jag. One day he will take rats then the next feeding he doesn't want rats.

I don't blame him. I couldn't eat the same thing every meal. Especially if that meal was only once a week. But on a serious note, good luck with that.
