I had them both out so I could clean their tubs and this was their reaction when I put them back, just like little kids. :)

lol, only one of my snakes is like that for now. The others can't wait to go back in where its warm, dark, and humid.

The '09 Macks are relentless once theyre pulled out. They always want to go exploring. :) Theyre still at it as I post this.

My burms do that. But I've noticed all my animals get a little active in their cage if they've poo'd or peed in their tub. When I see one moving around, I immediately check to see if they've left me a mess lol

Yeah I suppose its not unique to these guys but they just seem the most relentless at it. None of my snakes ever want to go back but I guess its more obvious with these guys because when it comes to their temperment, theyre just like Carpets; VERY active and curious.

My Goldie(pastel BP 9mo) is the same way If i take him out..he is ALL over the place doing best his Christopher Columbus impersonation. after about 10mins i can't keep up with him so he has to go back in the tank...where he'll spend 10mins trying to find a weakness in the lid.

my favorite mannerism is when i wake up to find him coiled up ontop or infront of his favorite half log....and he stares at me like the house keeper is late...

I understand the saying now.."You don't train your snake....he trains you.."

My milksnake never wants to go back. And once she's in, she'll be reaching for the top and looking for a way out for at least 15 min. Silly kids :D

Lol! Penelope will follow me around the room sometimes (in her tank). How am I supposed to accept that snakes are "stupid" when they do things like this :( lol

Yeah I understand that and agree. Macklots have been some of the most interesting species I have ever had. While bitey as babies, they tame down quickly but still keeping their ferocious feeding habits their whole lives. They are active and curious; always on the move but thyere so used to me that still they are relatively calm when I have them out. Then, when its time to put them back theyre like "nooooooooooooooooo...."

Also, they are so similar to Carpets in many ways. In addition to being active and curious, they are also semiarboreal. While Carpets can be bitey as babies and be good eaters, I find these traits to be way more pronounced in Macklot's.

ha ha, that's a hilarious analogy.

My retic is the same way, it worried me the first few times but I've come to accept and expect it now.

Once again, my retic is the same way, she just watches me as if to say "well you gonna let me out of here today or not?"

My normal BP is like that, when I first got him he wouldn't move once out, but now it's almost impossible to get him back in.
It's true, once they dookie they start booking it. It's how I first learned some of the signs they give
I feed my snakes in a tub, an when the normal BP is done, he literally comes out and intoy lap. I've tried sitting farther away and he still comes over, it's so weird

are those tubs really big enough to be keeping macklots in ?

imo, they don't seem to have much room in them, they are quite big snakes

cheers shaun Those tubs are deeper than they are wide. Vanessa, for example, weighs 3 lbs and is about 5' long when stretched out. Shes only 3 years old so shes not yet her adult size. When her size warrants it, I will put her in a bigger enclosure and Merlin as well. They are just not there yet. The tubs themselves are 16" wide x 35"deep. A lot of times they are curled up in the back. They do just fine but thank you for your opinion.
