Some snakes will eat, some snakes wont, over time you will learn whether to bother trying or not. As he is new to you i would try - then you know whether to bother next time :)

Okie :) I hope he does eat. How long do babies take to shed?

anywhere from a few days up to a week for my boy. I don't remember how old you said he was, but if he's anything like mine, give him a few sheds and he'll start turning a crazy shade of blue before shedding. Its unreal.

He's a few months old. The weird thing is that he was going into a shed the week that I bought him. I got him on Sunday, and he was showing signs early that week. But when I took him home he was already cleared up but never shed. So cross your fingers for him! :D

Naturally. I think he's the most adorable little wormie ever. It is my duty to share his cuteness with the world :D

He is REALLY cute. Ilove the curled up pic and the looking in the bowl pic!
You will know if he wants to eat...as soon as you try! He'll either act like it's offensive, or chow down *lol*

He acted kind of interested, but didn't eat it. I'll just wait till he sheds I guess. And hope and pray that he doesn't have an RI :(

But thank you :) He is adorable when he curls up in a little ball :D

I'm telling ya, I really don't think you've got anything to worry about. If he still clicks when he comes out of shed THEN I would take her to the vet.

Lol! I'm 100% positive he is a boy. He was popped for me when I went to first look at him and I saw his little winkies :D

I hope you're right though. I haven't heard any sneezing or wheezing. He needs to hurry up and shed because I'm gonna worry. I can't help it lol

millertime89

That's not a bad thing.
Hemipenes, lol, not winkies.

Stop worrying. Enjoy having a really incredible snake. Give him about a week to shed, and remember, when he's "blue" like that, he can't see you picking him up or anything, and their skin is probably pretty uncomfortable. My rule of thumb is no handling from the first sign of blue, thrugh the day AFTER he sheds. That new paint job is wet for a while (skin is very delicate), so DON'T TOUCH! :-)

I try not to. But when I check temps, I'm always concerned about flashing the laser in his eye so I move him.

Eye temperature isn't all that important, my friend.

I think she means moving the lazer around and accidentally hitting him in the eye. I'm fairly certain you can turn the lazer off on most models.

Yeah that's what I meant. I have the one from Pro Exotics. I'll have to check if I can turn it off. But I do like having it there because I know exactly where I'm pointing

C'mon guys! Laugh a little! Just jokes guys, just jokes.

Just turn it off as you get nearer to the snake and move slowly and steadily. you can use the top of it for a reference point. I usually just try to hit my snake in the middle of their back to check their temp.

I do too. But I also check the temp around him, and that's when I get paranoid that I'm gonna flash him in the eye

I shine a laser in my eye all the time on accident, I don't think it does any harm. THINK

The moral of my story is ~ once he's gone blue, try not to handle him unless its an emergency, until 24 hours after shed. Temps are important, don't get me wrong, but also consider he's pretty uncomfortable during this time.

LOL! I hope it's not any stronger than a red laser.

Yeah I understand. I didn't touch Penelope during the entire time, but she's a hardy girl. Zeus is so little that I worry way too much if I don't check on him :(

LOL! I have a green laser and I've been tempted to shoot it in my eye numerous times just because the warning label told me not to.

the warning laser on the red ones do too.
