Parasites Bearded Dragon

So im pretty convinced my beardie has a parasite. Her stools are running and just so smelly. hmm how much would it be to treat it? a ruff idea! thanks guys :D

depends which vet you go to. Call around to the reptile vets in your area, ask them thier exam fee (literally anywhere from $30-$100), how much a fecal float or smear is (usually $15-$30) and aprox cost of meds.

Beardie poop is really stinky in general. But it was about $50 for when my beardie had parasites. And that was just for the meds, he did the fecal for free.

oh okay! I never got a fecal done and kinda wanted to get one done anyways. this just started when i started giving her everyday baths and making her drink lots of water so we will see. ill wait 2 days!

Certain foods you feed them can make the poop runny too. have you change up the veggies at all lately?

I was just using squash for a week or so because i ran out of collard greens. so i bought more collard greens.

Nope, low humidity lizards. They like it dry dry. to much water can be detrimental to them. No need to bath everyday.

I give my beardies baths ummmmmm never. Only if they get to covered in dirt and not getting enough UVB on their skin.

I have bathed my beardies once every 3-4 months and I have never had any problems.
I don't believe in bathing bearded dragons that much. They are desert animals who would not be submerged in water every week in the wild and they live in much dryer/hotter conditions in the wild. As long as they are being fed fresh veggies and offered water every now and then they should be fine.
Mine drink out of a squirt bottle that I offer once a week.

No no, i fully understand your reasons for bathing and I agree. I would bath mine if they got covered in poop as well.
I was simply stating for the people who feel they need to bath because of hydration. :)

I bathe mine to get poop off to but I still cant get it off. You can get the meds from amazon or beardeddragon(.)com (it might be beardeddragons there are to sites one sells meds one sell dragons try both) for under 20 bucks. The woman who sells the meds does fecal floats for free to. She is wonderful and has been keeping/breeding dragons for over 20 years. There is no need to take it to a vet.

I didn't say I bathed for hydration I was stating that I bath her multiple times a week and have no problem with over hydration or negative affects in that area. Most of the bathes she has are even requested. Thil has been trained to poop in the bath or even what to do if she just wants one. She knows where the bathroom is and will go to it. She doesn't usually drink and more often then not she does go to just poop but there are times she just likes to go and sit there.

I don't keep standing water in my viv as I feel it can cause more issues if something were to bug out.

Runny stools are something I would most definitely look into getting a fecal done, yes beardie poo is very smell but it shouldn't be over powering. I have taken care of a beardie with parasites for a friend who went away, he also had a case of cocidia(sp) I couldn't even go in the room with his poo, let alone clean it. I have a very weak gag reflex and very powerful smells affect me badly. Beardie poo isn't pleasant but its not any harder to clean then my snakes and I can clean it without having to plug my nose or anything.

If you dragons poo is smelly enough to make you gag and smells don't usually bother you then I would get it check, doubly so if the poo itself looks unhealthy.

I didn't say I bathed for hydration
I never said YOU bath for hydration, I said many people suggest bathing for hydration and that I feel is not necessary. I understand the reasons you do but over and over again I see people saying it is necessary to keep them hydrated but it is not.
