There is no such thing as an "easy to care for" chameleon. They are all pretty high-maintenance. In addition, Panthers are more high maintenance than other species such as veileds and Jacksons.

The fact that a lot of lizards tend to be high maintenance, makes me shy away from lizards in general but the way I see it, if anyone after knowing this nature of them still wants them and are willing to do what it takes, more power to them. Its just not for me. Good luck with this Apex. My Dads wife had them before and she did very well with them.

I was thinking of getting a Panther Chameleon for a long time and I was on the chameleon forum and I did lots of research. Through all my research alot of people said they were hard and alot of people said they were easy. I think it comes down to this. At the beggining it might be a little bit complicated but once you get every thing down.

There's a TON of info out there on chameleons. I would recommend doing a lot more research. Definitely check out the chameleon forums.

A blue bar is just a type of Panther chameleon, and there's plenty of info about panther chameleons out there.

I would go with a veiled because they are the easiest to care for, there is a lot of info on them, if you need a vet there is a better chance they will know about veiled chameleons, et cetera. Have you kept other lizards? Lizards need daily care and a lot of it. You might find yourself caring for your chameleon an hour a day. I would definitely say you NEED an automatic misting system to LOL

A blue bar is just a colouration of a Panther Chameleon.

I have both a panther and a jacksons actually, and I don't find their care that much different from each other. I mean they are slightly different don't get me wrong, basically with temps, but either will need a nice variety of gut-loaded insects to keep them happy. The panther will of course require a larger cage which might be an issue. I would suggest, as others have, to do some research. Try the chameleon forums also, they have a lot of good people there.
