Going under the knife Monday. Broke my collar bone this last week skiing. So badly damaged it will take a plate and screws to get all the pieces back together. At least with surgery it should actually heal quicker and straight.

Wish me luck!!

Wow. That looks like my X-ray from when I was 18. Unfortunately we couldn't afford surgery and I just wore the butterfly straps. Good luck.

Good luck! Prayers sent. I feel your pain. I got out of the army about a year and a half ago and been waiting to get back surgery ever since. I ended up getting a compressed spine and one fractured disk and one disk that was crushed. Needless to say it's quite painful. I had planned on retiring out of the army but that kinda cut those plans short. So again good luck with your surgery better to get it fixed ASAP then wait lol

Thanks everyone, looks like this will be the better and faster road to recovery.
korbin5895 - how'd yours end up healing?
lankyrob - wow, how did that affect you essentially not having the one collarbone?
kingsnakechris - I hope the army will be footing the bill, our servicemen and women deserve whatever it takes to help them with what they lost/damaged serving their country.

They are, it's just a long waiting process such as EVERYTHING in the military goes, Hurry up and wait lol!

Has no affect on me whatsoever, but then i have so many other issues that i am not overly active - not sure if it would have more impact if i was still able to train :)

Dave, when we told you to take a break, this is not what we meant....
Hope the surgery and healing both go fast and smooth!

Glad your back. Just take It easy and relax as much as you can. I just got a call from my dr yesterday saying it's finally time for me to get my back surgery. Gonna take the crushed disk out and try to re set the fractured one so it heals in place. Also getting injections to space out my disks because I compressed my spine so the injections basically decompress it...

Good luck with the spinal op, kinda wish i had dosk issues rather than just nerve and soft tissue problems, at least then an op would have a chance of sorting it out :)

Thanks. Yeah I'm glad it's something that can be fixed. I'm nervous because I hear if the slightest thing goes wrong I can loose 75% use of my back but at the same time spending the rest of my life taking narcotic pain medicine doesn't sound like a good option either. Thanks for the good luck!

Wishing you the best of luck and a speedy recovery with your back surgery. It's amazing what the right doctor can do.
I'm feeling a lot better and already off the pain meds.
They let you keep your xray???
I wanted mine sooooooo bad when I broke my collar bone but there was no chance of getting it :(
Good to hear you are feeling better :)

Wellll, I went to the emergency room up in Tahoe, they gave me the Xrays on a CD for my doctor and somehow they managed to get copied to my laptop. What I really want is the post surgery ones showing the plate and screws, pretty gnarly looking. I do plan on asking. even if it's just a cell phone pic of the doctors screen.....

They don't let us have our xrays at all in Canada :(
Thats because down here, we pay for them ourselves. Be glad you don't get them!

Yeah, they have to stay on our files. There was actually a person who was caught by the police a few weeks ago. he was going around to offices and claiming to be a disposal company getting rid of the old xrays. he was collecting the iridium?, out of them.

Ahh, old school, our xrays our not actual films anymore, all digital on the computer. Didn't even see a light box in the ortho dept when I was there.

I have my x rays. Same as above, had to take them from the hospital to a doctor on a CD....so really you can do whatever you want with them before the CD goes to your doc.

What? every time i ask they say no. Although I have never had to take them to another doctor, they just stayed at the hospital.

I have never asked....
I was asked by my doctor to pick them up from the hospital. When I went to the hospital they gave me the disk no problem!!
