I have been seriously thinking about getting a Praying Mantid at the Reptile Expo when I get my snake. If I do get one I will start out with one as a pet then I will get another one and breed them to feed to my Crestie and future lizards. I love how they look and I love how they eat. I also like that they don't need a big enclosure. I have been wanting one for a long time along with a corn snake and now I have been seriously thinking about it. The only problem is money. I am already struggling to get enough money for my snake + my parents will probably have to loan me the money since I don't think I will have enough by May 5-6. Soooo it will have to wait! :( I just wanted to tell you guys about it. What is probably the best looking and nicest mantid that is available in Canada.

Just so you know, females frequently decapitate and begin eating the male while breeding. The male will continue to breed, even while headless. So plan on replacements :)

Mantids and stick insects are illegal in Canada.

Why is that? I would think the winters would kill them if they got out.

Okay thats a good thing to know. Then nevermind! LOL. I have been looking at them and never saw anything about them being illegal in canada. That sucks!

This makes me laugh. They raise stick bugs in an elementary school I work at.
