hello everyone, i have a simple question.
spring is comming on fast here in northern alberta and my appartment is slowely getting warmer. im wondering what you peope with leapard geckos think the top tempurature of the basking spot should be before i switch to a lower watt bulb for spring.
right now i have a small undertank matt under his hid and a 50 watt bulb over it, kept the temp in his hide around 100f during the day and 85f to 90f at night when the light went out. we get very cold winters here, but also very hot springs and summers.
past few days the basking and hide temp is going up to about 105f, so its soon time to switch to a 25 i think.
just a note the gecko has no sign that this is too hot, he still spends a nice bit of time over at the warm side. so the question doesnt come from concern of my geckos behavior but rather i like to get ahead of things and plan it out.
also this well be my first summer caring for reptiles in alberta, im used to cold weather of newfoundland where i kept heat bulbs on my reptiles all year. but here temps get very high and without a good air conditoner appartments can get very warm. anyone here use temp controlers hooked up to thier lamps or matts. im thinking i should do that because im sure there well be times i well need to be shutting on and off heat sorces and i just as well have a machine do it for me. are they trustworthy?
thanks to all who read, i look forward to hearing from you! and im terrible with grammer so sorry for if some is hard to read.
