I'm lost and confused because I hear different things everywhere, and almost settled for the zilla analog one today with the plan of calibrating it every couple months... But before I do that, I want to see what you guys have and how happy you are with it.
Please give me specifics! I don't know enough to recognize crappy ones from good ones.
Thank you much in advance! This is the last thing I need! And I'm picking up my baby BRB tomorrow! :D

Yes, those are great. I've got three of the remote sensors units as well as the base unit. You can buy more remote units as you need them; I think each base will read up to three remote sensors. They are one of the best I've ever had for reliability and accuracy.

And they are a good price! Getting some now :)

I can put one sensor in each tank and it will show up on the base unit?
Yep! That is exactly what you do

BAD!!! DOn't encourage me!!!!!!!! Maybe I'll get a beardie though. Or something. NOPE I can't... not yet
I pretty much told my parents that I'm getting another snake last night and they are surprisingly okay with it. And my dad is willing to babysit them and my mom allowed it :)

I think you should get a gecko next time, especially if your mom enjoys making realistic enclosures.

I think if I get a lizard ever, it's gonna be a monitor. But that's down the line when I'm rich

I actually really want a chameleon...

Get a chameleon!
Crested geckos are fairly easy to care for, though. They don't require any extra heat (unless your house is freezing), don't require additional light, will eat a powder based food mixture. They just require higher humidity.

Humidity is not a problem at my house lol... so tempting!

Errmm... no? I HAVE NO WEAKNESS!!! Muwahahahahahahaha.
With those indoor outdoor temp/humidity gauges, how are you installing them in your vivs?
The sensor on the wall by the basking spot? The sensor is listed as 3.5 x 2.75 x 1.25 in, so is quite the big little box. I always imagined temp probes to be a small nub on a wire.
And the receiver, you keep outside of your enclosures? Or do you keep it inside on the cool side? If you keep it outside, how do you monitor the temperatures on the cool side? By IR thermo-gun?
If someone could post a picture of how they have it set up in their viv I would be most appreciative. The price is appealing for a digital unit that measures both temp and humidity.

I use a HygroTherm, serves my purposes right now, but been looking to upgrade. I'll have to check out those posted above. I'd like somethin' that can control 5 shelves and three separate temps. Ideas?

Why didn't it come with batteries :'(
Also, how do I attach it to glass?
Silicone or hot glue the base to the glass. Ya, the lack of batteries sucks, but its such a nice hygrometer that you get over it quickly.

I tried aquarium sealer but that failed... mainly because I'm a loser and got tired of holding it.
Ha! Well that is a problem. ;) Just kidding. If you prop something underneath it so that it can dry overnight, or at least for a few hours, then you dont have to hold it. The hot glue will dry quicker, so give that a shot if its easier.

Is hot glue gonna be easy to take off?
Good thing I didn't attach it yet. I have to do a salt test.

For hot glue removal just slide a razor blade in behind the glue and you can pop it off.
It wont be as easy to take off, no. You can get one of those razor scrapers though and itll 'pop' with enough pressure from underneath. The silicone is definitely easier to get off

Ok. I don't mind if it's gonna take a little effort as long as it comes off the tank completely in case my parents end up taking for fish when I upgrade

How do I reset these? I'm not sure that I understand the manual completely.
You have to take all the batteries out of all of the units, then replace them one at a time as each one registers with the 'home' unit.

This will make them read correctly if they're off?
I started the salt test about 7-8 hrs ago, and this is what's happening so far...

Oh sorry, you mean calibrating them. Actually sorry, I don't have the manual here and mine were pretty much dead on so I never had to calibrate them (well they were just over a percent off, but that was close enough for me). Sorry, but I can't be much help there.
