The head resembles a corn more than a rat to me but it looks funny. Only rats I have experience with are trans pecos and Texas rats. I changed my answer I don't think its a corn...

If he found it in the wild it's not a bloodred, I agree with Kevin, it's an Everglades rat.

I would also point out I didn't use Google or any search engine.
When I first saw it, my first reaction was Everglades Rat. Right or wrong, that's what I think it is.
Everglades I would say also
I think it's an everglades rat too, bloodred corns usually have some grey on their head or nose and are usually a deeper red.

Seems like Trollbie, Snakefood, and Bushsnake got it right! Exwizard, you had it correct, then you changed your answer. It is indeed a Corn snake. It;'s a simple Bloodred that ended up more Orange than Red. It does look like it has stripes, though the breeder din't mention it being striped. For those of you who said Everglades, don't feel bad. I may have said the same thing had I not known what it was. This animal does indeed look soooo much like an Everglades rat it's amazing. However the head shape is slightly different than a Rat snake, and the scales are smoother than a Rat snake. I don't think I've seen another Bloodred look so Orange. I didn't really want an orange one for my projects, so I sold him off, after breeding him to a hypo female. Here he is as a baby. Thanks everyone for playing along!

Yeah I shouldve listened to my own experience with Bloodred Stripes esp since I used to have one. Youre right this one is unusually orange and then Brian said it was an Everglades Rat so I looked it up on google and allowed that to change my mind. See what I get for doing that? ;)
