Hi everyone. I am trying to set up a really cool natural vivarium for my new columbian red tail boa. I've been doing a lot of research on it. I'm going to have all live plants. I want to have a big pond in there with 1 or 2 little half a inch or smaller fish. Also, I'm going to try to make bioactive substrate by putting worms and rolly pollies in the soil. I'm in florida right now and there are all these little tiny toads everywere that can't be bigger than half an inch. I was woundering if I put some crickets in the tank if the toads could live in there to?? Would the crickets or the toads hurt the snake?? I'm not worried about the snake hurting them. I'm pretty sure a 2 and a half foot snake wouldn't try hunting a half inch toad.

not much help, but it will take a pretty big tank for all that... you would need some type of filtering system for the pond, and room for all the plants... i would imagine, but im sure some one here with omre experiance than me will help ya out:) if i get it done, post pics.

I dont think that would be very fair to the toads. It would be like locking you in a room with an elephant. Think of how stressed out those toads would be!

I know certain toads can defend themselves by releasing certain not sure whats. If the snake were to slither over them, it would kill the toads and they could be a harm to the snake. I don't think it's fair either that the toads have such a risk of being hurt just for the look of the enclosure. You're safer not putting them in...Also the crickets could possibly hurt the snake? Bite it or something, and make the snake uncomfortable and stressed as well.

mmkay I wont put them in there I was jw if I could, but I wouldn't be to worried of them getting hurt. These things are so tiny and they are pretty good at finding little places to squeez in and hide.

Oh alright haha, I thought of my pet toad when you said toads, and she used to be small but she's almost 4 inches now. I think it would be a pain as well, when cleaning the enclosure or something, and having a bunch of little toads jumping around? Especially if they were to start breeding haha.

Yes I would! But a Colombian is a little different than a corn or garter.
