Well I just witnessed their first lock of the year after a couple days of pre-mating behaviors.. if she becomes gravid she will drop eggs in 6 weeks.

just in time for me to move *sigh*

They are locking again as we speak usually they go at it for 3 or 4 days a few times a day my female is obviously fertile because she goes right up to my male and lifts her backside

Just a quick update:

I have witnessed roughly 7 locks (all lasting roughly 10 minutes) between my lacertas and I have seen some evidence that she has follicles developing (she is getting noticeably thicker just ahead of her back legs) so good news is I can expect my first clutch of eggs in the beginning of May.

If I can get the eggs through the 85 day incubation then I should have my first clutch hatch out in August... just in time for me to give birth.

last season she laid 35 eggs as a first time mum she had 2 clutches of slugs and after adjusting their husbandry had one fertile clutch that my incubator successfully killed. This year I am hoping for better numbers since she has put on a good amount of weight between her last lay and now.

Fingers crossed!!

I figured since I've been MIA lately I should update this. She dropped the eggs 2 weeks ahead of schedule while I was out of town and buried them. I predict I lost half the clutch to my male he looked a little fatter than usual but was able to salvage 7 eggs. Out of those 7, 3 were slugs and 1 collapsed shortly after incubation started.

So currently I have three very plump very white eggs incubating they were laid 2 weeks ago (approx) and have been in the incubator for 12 days (approx)

Whether or not she will drop more is unknown at this time.
