So as you guys know I am getting in a breeding trio shortly. As it stands I am getting a male albino ph anery, a female salmon het albino and a female ghost possibly super ghost. What I am trying to decide is if I should let one of my friends get the dh sunglow and I get a female sunglow visual.
The sunglow is a small 2010 who is a picky eater. The dh sunglow is a 2009 that will be ready to breed this season. My wife wants a sunglow and it was cheaper to go with the dh sunglow and produce( hopefully) one for her next season. Right now the cost isn't the issue so I am toying with it.
Can you guys help me weigh the pros and cons?

No not this guy. He has quite the collection and won't need my male. My other friend that is going in on this shipment is getting the other dh sunglow and would let me breed my male to it. Can you pm some close up pics of the heating system in your enclosures? I may go that route.

i'll try and find my camera mate
heres an old picture

you see the bulb guards.....
in them are 100 watt non light emitting ceramic bulbs
run by a pulse thermostat
i place the heat probe on the back of the tank
5,6 inches towards the cool end
6 to 8 inches below the bottom level of the guard
this gives me quarter of the tank as the true hot end,and 3 quarters of the 4ft tank as a good sized temperature gradient
re top right tank
you can see the heat probe directly under the dial guage on back wall of the tank
i moved it,towards the bulb guard, until it was 4,5 inches away from it,and 6 to 8 inches below, the hieght of the bottom of the buld guard

you have access to a double het,so i'd go for the visual mate
you and your friend can always go halfer's on a breeding project.
both supply a snake, then split the clutch equally between you

What are your guards made of? Would it be tacky to use a regular house thermostat in the cage?

guards are shop bought and made of heavy duty metal
carpet pythons, just crush and destroy the lighter, chicken mesh type guards
if a house stat gives you good consistant temps, then i see no problem in using them
i use both pulse and dimming stats with ceramic set ups mate
cheers shaun
heres a link to the type i use,in varies sizes

Well I am pretty sure I won't be getting that sunglow. My wife doesn't care for the looks of it. I may also go with a dh snow as opposed to the dh sunglow. My buddy will let me breed his dh sunglow and give me a sunglow.

So my wife and I are discussing names to the trio. She wants to call the male Giovanni which I am not really sold on. We agree on Nirvana for the ghost and Nixie for the dh snow. What do you guys think?

Giovanni is a cool name!! Better than Nicholi! Naming them all "N" names is tacky. If you name the poor thing Sunshine, I'm confiscating him!

He "slow" grows. If she isn't up to weight I will just skip this season. I am really not sure if any of them will be ready this year.

I don't know how much feeding he is doing in his slow grows plan, but I don't power feed my boas and none of them look like that ghost.
She looks sick man...dehydrated..the head looks funny too.
Sorry man not trying to pick on your future snake;)

Yeah the first snakes head looks like roadkill. Very wrong. No offence but I wouldn't buy it.

Too late. Said and done.;) I need to double check and see if that's the right one. He has a 2009 and 2010. I need to clarify which one he is sending and what one is pictured.
