I was just curious is anyone would be able to give me an estimate on how old my 3.5' to 4' diamond x jungle carpet is? And what's the biggest they get. Idk if its male or female so just in general.

My guess is about 3 yrs old. Huge difference between males and females as well as how much diamond is in there.

if you could take a picture, with say a sky tv remote next to her, then we will have a better idea of her size mate

i would go by her girth as.....

i have seen adult jungles at 4ft and 2 to 3 year olds at 4 ft,but with no where near the girth of an adult

pictures would also show us how much diamond influence she has, looks wise

cheers shaun

Here's one next to my tv remote. It's about 2 inches wide.

could anyone give a rough estimate about how much diamond is there versus the jungle?

Unfortunately without knowing what the parents were, no one can say exactly how much diamond blood is in there.

I agree with the 1-2 year age estimate and with how hard it can be to tell the percentages, but I can show you what a high-end DJ Jag looks like at 4 years old right here (http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/morelia-spilota/90224-sol-update.html). This one has always looked like this, but...

Chances are that your snake is going to change it's looks quite a bit over the next couple of years as Caylan was kind enough to show us here (http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/morelia-spilota/91315-profile-sync.html) - scroll down to see what that one *used* to look like to get an idea of how much it can change.

Yup after seeing the pic my guess would be a2010 model. Nice looking snake there.

Very cool looking carpet! I'd also say 2 years and probably a 50%diamond if it is truly a diamond x jungle, but I sorta see coastal in there to be honest, so I'd say 25% diamond, 25% Jungle, 50% coastal... if I had to guess, which is all I can do really. She has a wicked pattern and colour shceme going on regardless, and her nose is very unique!

Caylan how do u see coastal? I don't know the differences or see them. But hers a better pic.

i asked the breed what the percentages were and they said 50/50. so theres no coastal here lol

I just said I see coastal, Coastals and Jungles share alot of the same range and can often confuse me. The main reason I said coastal is the abundance of jaguar siblings, so just going with the odds moreso.
If you can ask the percent how come you cannot ask the age?

unless the breeder had a mixed lineage diamond or jungle for a parent and did not know, Its not unheard of

Also, just my two bits in but id say that thats a late 2010 hatchling

i asked the breed what the percentages were and they said 50/50. so theres no coastal here lol

if you can get a picture of her head taken side on,it will help when GUESSING (as thats all we can do,without having proper bloodline details),how much diamond influence is in there

i have found with 50% diamond jungles, the hatchlings take their head and mouth shape influence from the diamond genetics

imo, diamonds have very different distinct shaped, heads and mouths, from all other carpets

imo, theres NOT a huge diamond influence in the pattern, the black tipping in the pattern, being all i can say looks diamond like in nature

imo,the patterns more jungle like

that said.....

the pattern does remind me,of a few different types of jaguar siblings patterns,i've seen

it could be the breeder guy is NOT,declaring some coastal genetics,it may be a diamond jungle jaguar sibling, but since it does NOT carry the jag gene, the breeder considers it a diamond jungle.

if this was from a clutch of diamond jungle jaguars, then it would be a diamond jungle, with some coastal genetics

that said.....

the breeder said it was a 50% diamond jungle,so it would have to have been produced,by a pure diamond x pure jungle breeding

without proper bloodline information,it's impossible to tell, the genetic make up of a carpet python.this is why most carpet keepers preffer,to buy from established, well documented bloodlines, then pass their information on to the buyer.

no matter what the genetics of your carpet are,its a very good looking carpet

sorry caylan i wasn't trying to sound like a d*ck. i asked becasue i dont know what to look for. and as far as asking the breeder about age honestly i never even thought about it. and shaun i will do my best to get that pic. and i'm really only interested in basically what im looking at size wise. all the rest im very happy with its finally calming down and becomeing a lot more handle able and i love the way it looks.

75 JCP / 25 DP...

That would be my edumacated guess based on photographic evidence on that specimen.

If I search hard enough from my Morelia sources... I could probably even find you images based on JCP locality of pure JCPs that would loook like that.

But just to show you how variable they are...

Holy Crap lol. There's so much varience in them lol. Well maybe I should change my question. How big do jungles get? Diamonds? And coastals just be sure?
