Looking to get another

So, after 2 weeks with my first snake, I'm looking to get another. Right now I have an ~8 month old Jungle x Coastal carpet python. We are super happy with him, but it has become clear that one snake is simply not enough :D

I am strongly considering one of the BC subspecies or a BRB. Or I could always get another carpet :) I don't have space or experience for something huge, so no retics or burms. And maybe even something small enough fully grown to need nothing larger than a rat. If I got something and it turned out to be a monster, I would feed it what it needed, but I would rather not get a snake that I know will 100% for sure need rabbits or something as an adult. I'm also not particularly interested in ball pythons for some reason.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or experiences to share on these or any other snakes you have--personalities, temperament, size, ease of care, handleability, etc. Also, if you want to share pics of your full-grown snake, preferably with something to get a sense of scale (person, etc), that would be great!

Then I would NOT get a BCC/BCI the females can go ~9ft the males are slightly smaller

You can go with a Hog Island Boa, or a Ball Python...

I know you said you're not particularly interested in ball pythons... how come? They are great lap snake buddies, relaxed, easy-going... I love mine! They come in so many colors and patterns- you'll have tons to choose from. They'll never eat anything bigger than a rat, and they don't need huge arboreal housing or anything like that. They're also great for relative beginners!

Ok so I see you want nothing large and no Royals. How do you feel about corn snakes, kings , milks? Do you want something you can handle or are you ok with a display snake? There are a ton to choose from.. making suggestions are hard.

I knew this was coming! I don't know why. I am going to a reptile show around here in mid April. I assume there will be tons of ball pythons there and I'll go check them out. I imagine there is probably a reason why they are so popular.

The other thing is with a ball I can easily find one to adopt, which I would really prefer than buying from a breeder. I worked with a pet bird rescue for a few years and I saw too many birds needing homes because people bought them not realizing what they were getting into. Same thing with ball pythons, probably because they are commonly sold at pet stores whereas some of the more exotic (by exotic I mean not sold at petco) snakes are not. Type carpet python or rainbow boa on craigslist and you probably won't find too much. Type Ball python and you'll probably get 50 listings. "My son is no longer interested in his snake $100 OBO." Kind of sad to think about it. Animals being sold OBO like it's some old junk in the basement that you want whatever cash you can get to have it gone from the house. Oh well. :(

I need to get out and meet some people with some BPs that I can handle. Maybe one of them will give me a look and I'll fall in love with them... who knows? :D

it is but its a different type. Hogs only hit 6ft

My first recommendation is wait. A two week old car still smells new if you get what I mean.

As for what you actually asked I would get a bci. My male is three years old and eats large XL rats. Bci are great snakes.

Also I am not a rp fan either so I get that.
