hello folks,
havnt been about on here for a while so id like to say hi again with this little beauty i picked up at the weekend!
id like to introduce you to my latest addition, female red tailed racer. i have been waiting a couple of years to get my hands on one of these guys and i love her to bits already lol.
the pics arent the best, but had to snap a couple before putting her into settle, as you can tell from a couple of them she wasnt too happy about it but she didnt strike and calmed down fairly quickly...

That's a really cool snake- you don't see many racers around. Congrats!
I love these snakes! Always wanted one since I saw them as a kid. Their red tails and bright green colouring are so beautiful. Plus they are really active snakes too. I love my GTP but unless Im around at night I dont get to see him active much.

I wasnt either until last year when I picked up my Bloodred Stripe Corn. Anyway, since then there are certain Colubrids I do like and this is one of them! Awesome looking snake! :)
I rather like these guys for colubrids as well, especially the grey version! Great look snake, congrats!

Very cool pick up! Good luck with that girl. I have to say this is the first time I heard them called racers though? I've always refered to them as rat snakes. Keep us posted!

Red tailed green rat snakes, red tailed racers, they are just different names for the same snake.

I fgured that out, but I had not heard them called racers before. I wonder if that's a more common term in Europe?

Are those things rear fang venomous like vine snakes? Do you have to feed them anoles?

I have never heard that they are rear fanged? I don't believe they are. They may very well, eat anoles at first, but they get pretty big. I'm sure they take any small animal that crosses their path in nature. Since they spend most of thier time in trees, I suspect they eat a lot of birds. Having said that, if these guys are eating small rodents, I would just continue with that, as lizards can harbor parasites, which can transfer to the snake. With a snake this delicate, there's no reason to chance it.

hey man, no these are defo not venomous but they do have serious attitude problems from what i gather. WC specimens would prob only take anoles and the likes but i have been lucky enough to get CB and already started on mice so i will continue with these. once bigger il prob throw a few chicks into the mix but will be a while before sh could manage one of those...
