I really think you should stop feeding live but if you wish to continue to feed live you need to make sure that if the mouse bites your snake or anything that you can use a chopstick or something to stick in the mouses mouth. Your snake will get hurt if you leave it in a closed container with a live mouse/rat.

Most snakes can be switched over to F/t just stop offering live and when they get hungry enough they will take F/t. Also when your BP and boa need rats good luck on them not getting injured. Soon they will both be to large for little mice.

Does the boa only eat live?

Also you should start him off on rats, it'll make it easier to feed him when he's big. He could get hooked on mice and they're too small to feed only one.

PS thanks Kat

Sorry for the punctuation. That was my boas first meal. F/t does have as much nutrition right?

F/T has pretty much just as much nutrition as live. A little bit of nutrition isn't worth the risk

No, honestly, it's just not worth the risk of your snake being injured.

What about people that feed rabbits? Or is that more of a Red Tail thjng instead of just a common boa

If your boa becomes large enough to eat rabbits, those should also be fed as f/t (frozen/thawed).

Any animal being killed will bite, scratch and try to tear at whatever they can to get away. Of course Rabbits bite and they have huge nasty teeth.

I feed f/t but if you watch live can be done, lots of people do it. The video made me motion sick though.

Lol, this reminded me of the end of Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail.

yes you should switch to F/T rats for sure, if you want to watch live feeds you can always watch you tube videos, no sence putting you snake in harms way.

I have the scars to prove it. Your snake wouldn't stand a chance.

This is a great suggestion.

If you want to watch live, watch videos of it. Then you can watch live and keep your snake safe ;)

Could anyone estimate the age of my Boa?

MoreliAddict

also, see how your boa struck, missed, and smashed his face on the wall? another benefit to f/t: the snake won't miss and hit things.

Once and a while i have trouble with one of my ball pythons going of f/t but i get her a live small mouse then i thaw out her rat then i toss her the mouse and she grabs it before she finishies that i gently place the rat in her lips and she takes it down. then the next time i offer frozen thawed again she normally takes it no problems. you could try that if you like. Also I agree with the others frozen thawed is always the safest way to go for your snake.
