I did my research, and ended up giving up on the sulcata. I just don't live in the right climate. So, I decided to go ahead and adopt that russian tortoise. What can I say, early birthday present to myself! :)
For housing, I simply followed the instructions for a 50gal enclosure here: The Russian Tortoise Care Sheet (http://www.russiantortoise.org/care_sheet.htm)
I've got some hay to keep in there 24/7, and I already have a lot of the greens she'll need in my fridge (it's stuff I eat anyway! hooray!)
She is a rescue, I have no idea of her age, only that she appears female (to me). My friend desperately had to give her up after one year of ownership, due to her financial situation. She was never given a name, so I got to name her! Meet Mischa!
(singing) *happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, I know it's 2 months earlyyyy...but happy birthday to me!* :p
